Before co-founding Czura Thornton in 2003 Tony Czura was Chief Executive Officer of Société Générale de Surveillance Holding SA (SGS:SWX). After an early career in the city of London Tony Czura joined SGS in 1983 as a management trainee. SGS is the world’s largest testing, inspection and certification firm and plays a pivotal role in international trade. Managing increasingly large and complex operations through Europe, Asia Pacific and North and South America, and having established a global healthcare unit for the group in the mid 1990's, Tony was in 1998 appointed Chief Executive Officer of SGS based in Geneva, Switzerland. Here he was responsible for revenues in excess of СHF3 billion, and 40,000 employees accross 140 countries. Tony completed a major overhaul of SGS's strategy, systems and performance before leaving SGS in 2002 to found Czura Thornton in 2003. Tony graduated B.Sc.(Hons) in economics from Bradford University, England and is based in Saint Petersburg, Russia and Geneva, Switzerland. |
Before co-founding Czura Thornton in 2003 Nick Thornton was Chief Operating Officer and Head of Corporate Development for Inveresk Research (IRGI: NASDAQ). Nick initially practised law in New Zealand before gaining experience in the telecommunications and investment banking sectors. In 1994 he joined Société Générale de Surveillance Holding SA (SGS:SWX) in an acquisitions and development role, working particularly in the healthcare sector. In 1997 he was appointed global head of M&A for SGS, based in Geneva, Switzerland. Here he worked closely with Mr Czura as Chief Executive. Nick left SGS in 2001 to join Inveresk, a former SGS subsidiary acquired by a large private equity firm. Inveresk subsequently completed several acquisitions and business integrations and listed on the NASD in 2002 prior to its sale for approximately USD1.5 billion in 2004. Nick graduated LL.B and MBA from Auckland University, New Zealand and is based in Geneva, Switzerland |

Co-founder in 2000 of Janvier Conseil, a consulting firm based in Geneva, François worked alongside numerous companies (banks, investment firms, hospitality groups, construction companies, etc.) and advised them in their organic expansion and external growth operations such as franchises, joint ventures or acquisitions, with a special focus on cultural factors that impact on corporate development. François has been mainly involved in international operations, located in Europe and Asia. Before that, François worked for the European investment companies Fimalac and De Benedetti Group, in France and Portugal, as an Investment Director. As such, he was involved and/or led for more than 10 years multiple financial reorganisations and M & A operations in areas as diverse as real estate (Cofipsa Imoveis, Sefimeg), resorts & hotels (Lusotur Vilamoura), financial rating (Fitch), press & media (Valmonde), wine (Real Companhia Velha), etc. In addition to the financial operations, François generally had, in conjunction with the management team, a deep involvement in the operational restructuring and re-deployment of the companies. François graduated from Institut d’Etudes Politiques de Paris ("Sciences Po") with a specialization in Economy & Finance. He speaks French, English and Portuguese. He is based in Geneva, Switzerland. |
After 6 years in the US Navy, Rick started his career in international sales in the US defense manufacturing industry achieving over $30,000,000 in personal sales over a five year period. Moving to Russia in 1996, Rick led a mobile telephony start up business (now owned by TELE2) and progressed to more senior sales and marketing roles in the Russian telecommunications industry, including St. Petersburg based PeterStar Telecommunications, and Moscow based Comstar Telecommunications. In 2002, Rick was selected by KPMG and the Russian Managers Association as the number 3 commercial manager in Russian telecoms and number 20 of the top 1000 commercial managers in Russia. After successfully launching and managing the Moscow based boutique sales training company, Akademia in 2003, Rick joined St. Petersburg based YPI Yellow Pages (then a CT company) in 2005 as COO. In this role, Rick returned the company to profitability. As CEO of YPI Yellow Pages, Rick oversaw its merger into and the resulting rebranding with Moscow based Yellow Pages as CT exited. Rick has traveled to 63 countries, speaks Russian, holds a Bachelor of Science in Sociology from the University of the State of New York and has served as the chairman of the American Chamber of Commerce in St.Petersburg, Russia. Rick is based in St.Petersburg and as CEO, is directly responsible for Pan Motors, CT's entry into the Russian truck sales/ service/ parts market. |

Prior to joining Czura Thornton in 2007 Pavel was the Sales Manager for the Imperial Porcelain Manufactory Holding JSC. This is a famous Russian porcelain exporter and importer owning brands such as Imperial Porcelain. Deshoulières Group, Porcelaine de Sologne and Apilco. From 2004-2006 Pavel managed a chain of luxury fashion stores in Saint Petersburg that carried such brands as Gucci, Brioni, Armani and Zegna. During this time he was responsible for the establishment of several new outlets. Pavel graduated M.A. from St.Petersburg State University of Culture and Arts and BSci from the Russian Institute of Radio- Engineering. Pavel is based in Saint Petersburg, Russia. |
Lena Dolmatova has been with Czura Thornton since 2008. She joined the firm from Yellow Pages Saint-Petersburg, where she held varions positions including of the Manager, Lead Client Manager and Chief Accounts Receivable Manager Elena is responsible for the day to day operation of Czura Thornton's Saint Petersburg office. |
